The basics of any spell casting is to understand how to create a sacred space in which to work. These can be broken down into several steps: Cleansing your space, Creating your sacred space, Performing your spell work, and Reopening your sacred space.
We start with cleansing your sacred space. Be it a room, a corner of your room, an entire building, or a circle out under the stars. Most practitioners prefer the last prefeered locaton, the lady Moon smiles upon those who work the craft in her sight.
Materials needed:
One candle, white
One candle holder
Stick incense, Sandalwood
1/4 cup sea salt
1 cup of distilled water
small bowl (ceramic, wood, bronze or copper)
a small table, bench or chest
A silk scarf to use as a table cover
Mix the salt and water in the bowl.
Spread the cloth on to your table, and orient it so that you are facing east, looking across the table. Place the candle straight across from you, near the far edge of the table. Place the bowl in the center of the table, and the incense just to the right of the bowl.
Kneel in front of the table, an take a moment to calm yourself, putting all thought of everything but this moment away from you. Focus your mind on the salt water mixture.
Reach in to the bowl, and wet your fingertips. Annoint the candle.
Saying "I cleanse this tool for my purpose, and for my self."
Repeat for the focus.
Annoint your forehead saying "I cleanse myself for this purpose."
Light the candle.
Carry the candle thrice around area to be cleansed repeating the following:
"By the powerfull names of Aradia and of Cernounos, With this creature of fire I consecrate and clear this space, removing all negativity and uncleanliness from this space, as I will, So Mote it Be!".
Place the candle back on the table.
Pick up the stick of incense, light it on the candle. and carry it thrice around repeating:
"By the powerfull names of Aradia and of Cernounos, With this creature of air I consecrate and clear this space, removing all negativity and uncleanliness from this space, as I will, So Mote it Be!".
Place the incence on the taple and pick up the bowl of saltware, carry it thrice around repeating:
"By the powerfull names of Aradia and of Cernounos, With these creatures of Earth and Water I consecrate and clear this space, removing all negativity and uncleanliness from this space, as I will, So Mote it Be!".
place the bowl back on the table, pick up the candle, extenguish it into the bowl, then extenguish the incense in the bowl. and place both on the table. Pick up the bowl, walk the parimiter of the area to be cleaned, spritzing the water in the air and on the ground as you walk. make three passes around. Placed the bowl, the candle, and the incense in the center of the cloth, and wrap them up in the cloth.
place the bundle in a safe place and do not unwrap until after the next full moon, after which these tools may be used for additional spell work, for they are cleansed and sacred tools.
