john guinta
John Guinta is a recording artist and performer who specializes in music for relaxation, yoga and meditation. He primarily plays the handpan but also employs kalimbas, gongs, native flute, singing bowls and vibraphone in his work.
Born and raised in New Orleans, John retired in the mid 90s from a career as an air traffic controller and is very familiar with stress and the human condition. John's belief in the power of music as a universal tool for healing led him to found Streams of Sound INC, a 501.c.3 non profit operating out of Jacksonville, FL. Streams of Sound employs a cadre of handpan musicians and is contracted to take soothing sound into hospitals, specialty medical treatment facilities and medical rehabs. Streams of Sound also. provides educational outreach to the public about the handpan as a musical instrument.
A handpan enthusiast and ambassador to this new art form, John has traveled extensively for years around the US and abroad, sharing the handpan sound. He organizes and hosts Pan Marco Handpan Show, one of only a handful of handpan festivals in the United States. Pan Marco brings together handpan manufacturers from around the world, as well as some of the top US handpan performers. The multi day handpan trade show and music festival takes place in the fall in Jacksonville, FL where John currently resides.
By supporting John and his music you are helping bring the healing sound of music to those in need.
We are honored to have John & his partner Elise present a Sound Bath workshop. Attendees are invited and encouraged to join us for a 1 hour "sound bath" curated by John and Elise. They will provide a soothing soundscape using a variety of musical instruments including handpans, chimes, singing bowls, flutes, keyboard, kalimbas, and gongs. This presentation is open to all, and no movement is required. In the busy, relentless world of continuous information and noise, this sound bath presents an opportunity for festival goers to "reset " their energy levels by grounding to the tranquil sounds created by these artists.
